If you were using Print Screen button and then pasting it into Paint to save the capture or the Windows Snipping Tool you wouldn’t have that luxury. You can see a screen shot of the Editor below:īasically, if you wanted to do a screen capture of content that extended past the bottom of your browser window, on a website for example, you would be able to capture the content that wasn’t currently visible in the Window. This is where you can modify and edit all of the screen captures that you have done. The other tool that makes up Snagit is the Snagit Editor. I currently have version 10 which is no longer for sale, Snagit 13 is the most recent version they have released and is the only version that is offered for sale. The actual number will be depend on what version of Snagit you have. You have the actual Snagit tool, a screnshot is above, that you use to capture content on your screen which is called, for example, “Snagit 10”, “Snagit 11”, “Snagit 12”, or “Snagit 13”. Snagit is actually comprised of two different tools. You could also compare it to the Windows Snipping Tool in modern versions of Windows, but again Snagit is so much more than a simple screen capture software. If you’ve ever used the “Print Screen” button on your computer and then pasted it to Paint, then it’s similar to that except way more advanced.

Snagit is a screen capture software that enables to capture items on your screen. An option to take over and assign the setting to the current profile would help too.Today, I will be talking about Snagit. It would also help to show which is the other program, profile, or whatever that is already holding the setting in question. In this case, the fix might be to improve the integration between the components of an application. So I do not have a clear path after that. The message does not tell me which that program is, or that profile. It says: The Capture Hotkey is already assigned to another profile. For comparison, when the hotkey is assigned to another profile in Snagit, the message that the Profile Manger returns is different. Unfortunately the teams were not able to integrate the two well enough. Obviously, two different teams at TechSmith developed the capturing profiles and the preferences, these two might technically be two separate programs. The message speaks of another program, yet from my perspective as a user, it is the same program.

The hotkey for the global capture feature is managed through the Preferences window. The profiles for capturing are managed through the Manage Profiles window. I removed the print screen button as a hotkey for the global capture and was able to assign the hotkey to the profile I needed. I played around with the preferences and found out that Snagit’s global-capture option is the “other program” in question. Select a different keyboard combination for the hotkey. The Snagit capture hotkey is in use by another program.

When I tried to assign the print screen button as a hotkey for the new custom profile, I got a message: I found an article explaining that I had to create a new capture profile. The global capture – for some unknown reason to me – does not capture the cursor, so I was looking for a way to capture the cursor. The print screen hotkey is assigned be default to the global capture option of SnagIt (version 12).
